FUNDRAISING CHAMPIONS
The Montour Trail Council (MTC), founded in 1989, builds, maintains, operates, and promotes the main line and branches of the Montour Trail.
The 2023 Gateway Engineers Tour the Montour is the MTC’s signature fundraising event, now in its 21st year. It is a family-focused fun bike ride with over 500 participants. Proceeds from the Tour support annual operating expenses such as trail resurfacing (MTC volunteers resurfaced over 6 miles in 2022 at a cost of $18,000+/ mile), repairing fencing and signage, maintaining the MTC’s heavy and light machinery (including fuel expenses), and placing more than two dozen chemical toilets trailside at a cost of $34,000 annually. |
